Date: December 1st

Time: 12 PM CT and 1 PM EST

The skin is not a sterile surface it is a living ecosystem shaped by the constant interaction between the microbiome, barrier, immune system, and surrounding environment. When this ecosystem becomes disrupted, microbial imbalance, or dysbiosis, can influence how the skin functions, responds, and recovers.

In this Dermaverse class, we’ll explore the science behind the skin microbiome and what happens when its balance is disturbed. From barrier dysfunction and chronic inflammation to acne, sensitivity, reactivity, and impaired recovery, we’ll examine how shifts in the microbial environment can influence the skin’s behavior and clinical presentation.

Rather than viewing the microbiome as simply “good” or “bad” bacteria, we’ll explore the dynamic relationship between microorganisms and the skin’s microenvironment and how cleansing, exfoliation, topical products, environmental exposure, treatment intensity, and barrier health can influence that relationship.

Professionals will learn how to recognize signs that the skin’s ecosystem may be out of balance and how to approach treatment with greater intention supporting the microbiome rather than disrupting it.

Because healthy skin isn't just about what we put on it.

It's about the ecosystem we're creating.
